About the company
Klaas Stok en Zonen B.V. is a family-run business from Friesland that has been active in the construction sector for over a century. The company began a hundred years ago as a blacksmith’s workshop, founded by the grandfather of the current director, Klaas Stok, and has grown into a renowned builder of agricultural structures and industrial projects. Their work can be seen throughout the country, ranging from agricultural barns for farmers in Groningen to complete milk reception facilities for FrieslandCampina in Workum.
The challenge
Due to the company’s growth and the complexity of its projects, Klaas Stok en Zonen were reaching the limits of their existing administrative processes. Quotations were still being drawn up manually on a typewriter, and linking cost estimate data to order registration was causing a great deal of inefficiency. Information was scattered across various systems and emails, making it difficult to maintain an overview and manage data centrally.

The approach
To modernise its internal processes, Klaas Stok en Zonen decided to develop an integrated order and project management system in collaboration with Matrix. Together with four other construction firms, they worked in intensive sessions in Nijmegen to design a new order management programme that integrated seamlessly with the existing cost estimation software. Matrix is now used within the company for work preparation, planning and materials management. The implementation took place in stages, with close support from Jacco at Matrix, who acts as the dedicated point of contact.
The result
The introduction of Matrix has led to greater structure, clarity and efficiency in day-to-day operations. All project information is now available centrally, meaning that crucial data is no longer lost in email inboxes or telephone conversations. Thanks to the comprehensive materials management system, the company has gained a better understanding of the differences between quotations and actual orders. According to Hendrik Stok, Matrix not only provides an overview but also the ability to drill down into the details, depending on how many ‘baubles’ you want to hang on the tree.
